On the war in Ukraine, this is what Trump said in August, 2025:

President Trump dialed into “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday morning and revealed his newest and truest motivation for brokering an end to the war in Ukraine: He’s worried he might not get into heaven after he dies.

“I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,” he explained. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.” – President Donald J. Trump

We don’t know the hearts of men. Therefore, we cannot know if someone is truly saved, but the Bible says we can tell by fruit if people are saved.

Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15–20).

Trump is not a self proclaimed Biblical prophet, so the context does not fit exactly, but we can still see the fruits of someone’s life and see if they point to or away from Christ. We should pray for the President, because on this one, he is wrong.

You can’t work your way into heaven. Salvation isn’t achieved by completing a list of good deeds, just like it isn’t taken away by completing a list of bad deeds. Who’s the deed holder? How do we classify events? Is there a point system? 50 good deeds outweighs 3.5 bad deeds? Salvation is by faith alone, in Christ alone.

“Trying to get to heaven” supposes works. “I’m not doing well” supposes works. “I am really at the bottom of the totem pole” supposes works. “If I get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons” supposes works.

If you have questions on how you get to heaven, you can read more here. Hint: Faith in Christ gets you to heaven, not works.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)

“Now, I want you to know that Charlie right now is in heaven. Not because he was a great husband and father, not because he saved millions of kids out of darkness on college campuses, not because he changed minds and chased votes to save the country, not because he sacrificed himself for his Savior. Charlie Kirk is in heaven because his Savior sacrificed himself for Charlie Kirk.” – Dr. Frank Turek
