There is so much brokenness in the world. We see it so often in the news, in those around us, but most often in ourselves. We fill that brokenness with so many things: Money, Career, Sex, a new Boyfriend/Girlfriend, New Car, and more. Those things just boomerang us right back to our Brokenness. We have a hole in us that we cannot fill.
Through that brokenness we find ourselves distanced from God’s original design. The vision was the Creator and His creation living together in perfect unity. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve, the first people, disobeyed God and sin entered into the world. Sin is breaking God’s law, or doing things against God’s will for us. We miss the mark.
That leaves us in a tough spot, today. Those sins, sometimes destructive, add to our brokenness. So, how do we as a broken people get back toward God’s Design? How can we bridge the gap between our sin and a Holy God?
Thankfully, He loved us enough not to leave us where we were in that separation, heading towards eternity away from Him. He sent His son Jesus. Jesus was fully man and fully God. God’s only Son sent to die on a cross to bridge the gap between our brokenness and sin, back to communion with a holy God. Jesus died on that cross taking the death we deserved, was buried, and rose again (3) days later defeating death and the grave.
The final point is to believe on that truth. How can I do that?
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 [e]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; – Romans 10: 8,9
We must confess our sins (turn away from them), and believe in the truth laid out above. We accept Jesus is who He says He is. That’s it. That is the Good News.
